Have a Project Idea?

Every year, through local tax requisition, Bamfield is allotted funds to support community projects. Community Affairs receives $10k a year via the ACRD to fund these projects.

Grant-in-aid funding is available for community projects such as:

  • Hiking Trails

  • Bear Proofing

  • Flower Boxes

  • Public Events

  • Community Gardens

  • Planning (e.g. surveying public sites)

How Does it Work?

1) Apply & Present Your Project

Complete an application form and present your idea at a monthly Community Affairs meeting via Zoom. This can be a short presentation that briefly describes your project and what the funding will be used for.  Within 14 days the Community Affairs Board will followup with a decision on your project funding.

2) Sign a Simple Contact

Once approved you will sign a 1 page contract and then the money for your project will be released. Any extra funds left over from your project need to be returned to Community Affairs.

4) Do The Thing

Once you receive the funding you can get started on the project. You need to complete your project within 1 year.

5) Send a final report

When you have finished your project, you will send a short Completion Report.

Applicant Requirements
  • Applications can be submitted at any time of the year.

  • Applicants are expected to fill out the BCAS GIA application form, including the budget page, and submit it through the BCAS secretary to the Directors for consideration. Applicants will be notified by the BCAS secretary whether or not their application is complete and approved for presentation to the community.

  • If accepted at least 10 days before the next BCAS meeting, the applicant is expected to present their project information at that meeting or the next available meeting. (Meetings are held at 6:30 pm on the third Monday of every month except for July, August, and December when there are usually no meetings.)

  • Following the applicant’s presentation, there will be a period for those attending the meeting to ask the applicant questions about the project.

  • For projects over $1000, applicants are required to present the project again at a second BCAS meeting and answer any questions that were not posed at the previous meeting.

  • Successful applicants will be asked to sign a contract upon award of funds and agree to complete their project within one year, at the latest, and must submit a final project report to the BCAS secretary within two weeks of project completion.
